Lakeway started as a place for retirees and those who wanted second-homes, however it has grown to include all types of people and families who enjoy the beautiful views and lake lifestyle of the area.

The 2010 U.S. Census population showed 11,391 Lakeway residents, which was an increase from 8,002 in 2000.
Large area employers are the Lake Travis Independent School District, the Lakeway Resort and Spa, and the Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Lakeway.

Colleges within 20 miles of Lakeway include the University of Texas at Austin, Saint Edward’s University, Austin Community College, and Concordia University.
