The homes are both one and two-story, with the one story built smaller than most nearby newer neighborhoods. Some homes in the Olympic Heights neighborhood are two-bedroom homes.
D.R. Horton finished the first building stages in Olympic Heights in 2008. The last phase of building in the neighborhood was completed in the summer of 2012.
Part of the new section is part of the Austin ISD school attendance zone for Bowie High School. The new section also has an entrance and exit on Brodie Lane and Niemann Drive through the Southland Oaks neighborhood.
True to its name, Olympic Heights streets are named after Olympic medalists such as Wilma Rudolph, Mary Lou Retton and Jesse Owens.
The streets are winding to slow down drivers looking to take a short-cut using the Olympic Heights roads.
Olympic Heights has its own community center. It is also near many amenities including schools, parks, and malls. Nearby malls include Southpark Meadows, Shady Hollow Village and Tanglewood Village which are all on West Slaughter Lane.
